Traditionally, companies have invested in leadership coaching only. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on employees like never before, the majority of employees are experiencing mental and emotional turmoil as a result of the pandemic. Many are panic-stricken about their and their loved ones health. Many double income families have suddenly become single income families. Most are struggling with new realities of remote work from home with increased work at home. For the mental well-being of their employees and to increase their productivity, companies should invest in employee coaching.
Because of lock-down and induced slowdown, many businesses have scaled down or shut shops. So employees are being laid off or furloughed from small to big enterprises. As part of a severance package, companies should provide coaching hours to employees to support them in their transition period and getting back to work. Some companies do provide recruiting services, however coaching adds more value. Even furloughed employees are experiencing much anxiety as there’s no certainty about when will they be called back to work. Providing them access to coaching for handling stress and anxiety will go a long way in building trust and loyalty.
Minimizing impact of the epidemic on employees should be a key concern for any leader, being compassionate leader is the need now more than ever, invest in your employees mental well-being and it will pay off in the long run.
